Content Submission Guidelines
Each agency supports various formats and has specific constraints on the content it accepts. In other words, there is no specific "standard" and you could upload your files in TIFF formats for some agencies and JPEG for some others. However, this means a convoluted workflow, and the goal of our service is to simplify things!
So we created some standards wherever we could to help simplify things for you.
Photos
Format: JPEG (we recommend compression settings set to: Maximum Quality (12), Progressive 5 Scans for opptimal quality/size)
Minimum resolution: 4 MP (MegaPixels)
Maximum File Size: 25 MB (Megabytes)
Videos
Format: QuickTime Movie (.MOV Files)
We recommend:
Encoding
- CODEC: Apple Motion JPEG B, with a quality setting at 90% (best compromise size/quality)
Frame Format
All Agencies support the most recent and prized HD format:
- 1920 x 1080 (HDTV 1080i)
Most also support:
- 1280x720 (HDTV 720p)
- 720x480 (DV-NTSC)
- 720x576 (DV-PAL)
Maximum File Size: 1 GB (Gigabyte)
Frame Rate
Most agencies support frame rate of 25, 29.97 and 30 FPS (Frames Per Second) - 30 FPS is usually preferred.
Clip Duration
The actual "common denominator" is a minimum duration of 7 seconds and a maximum of 20 seconds. But there is a lot of variance, from a minimum of 5 seconds to a maximum of 60 seconds, and also based on the type of content you provide.
For instance transition effects are usually expected in the 5-10 second range, while background loops and "short stories" will usually be longer. We can only advise you to adapt your content workflow so that you better benefit from the distribution platform: uploading a video to send it to one single channel because it would only work with that channel wouldn't really help you!
Illustrations (Vector)
Two Files are needed for a vector image:
- Required: One (1) JPEG preview of 4MP that contains your title, keywords and description. This preview will be resized down automatically for channels requiring a smaller preview file and sent as-is for channels requiring a large preview
- Required: One (1) EPS file, compatible with Adobe Illustrator 8.0
At this time, we do not convert your vector files to the various formats required by each Agency as this is a process that sometimes causes variations in the output.
In order to provide us your vector content, simply upload your images using the same base name for each file, for instance, if you upload: myvector.jpg and myvector.eps our system will automatically match your files together. Note: This means that the base name of your file MUST be unique. Duplicate submissions will be rejected.
When syndicating to each channel, our system automatically decides which files to compile together for the channel to which the distribution is made. For instance, an SVG file alone, or a small resolution JPG (with metadata information) and EPS file for another channel, etc.
